Paris

Boulevard de la Madeleine

When photographing, it is a good idea to sometimes including a sign. It gives image a real sense of place and …it helps your memory.

Madeleine church and Fauchon’s colors

Fauchon and its new colors definitely adds interest to an otherwise grey building.

Madeleine church and traditional light fixture

Similar image with classic Parisian light fixture.

Madeleine church detail

Great building to play with wide angle.

Madeleine church reflection

Church reflected in store window.

Self portrait

One more reflection for self portrait.

Pont des Arts with dark sky

Sunday afternoon around 7:00 pm.

Notre Dame at sunset

Wednesday around 9:15 pm.

Dome du Grand Palais

Grand Palais

Dome at Galeries Lafayette

Galeries Lafayette.

Dome du Printemps

Dome in Brasserie Flo in Printemps.

Domes at Bibliotheque Richelieu

Bibliotheque Richelieu.

Glass Dome at CDG 2F

The glass dome/structure I probably see the most is the one at Terminal 2F CDG.

Colonnes de Daniel Buren au Palais Royal

I always like walking around the Daniel Buren sculptures at Palais Royal. They provide a good photo opportunity as well as a great playground for kids on rollerblades etc. (not to be seen at this early hour). A surprise was this Paris sign in white chalk. It is now gone.

Detail at Palais Royal

Also at Palais Royal, umbrellas at this restaurant are in touch with the Daniel Buren style.

Fountain Place de la Concorde

Fountains at Place de la Concorde, different each time depending on time of day and water flow.

Street with view of Sacre Coeur

Street leading to Sacre Coeur, the way Utrillo painted it.

Sunset on Seine

I took this photo on the free museum night. Streets away from museums  were somewhat empty and quiet and it was very pleasant to walk around enjoying the beautiful late light.

Tour Eiffel

A different view of Eiffel Tower taken from merry-go-round near by.

Stairs in Montmartre

Stairs in Montmartre. Not the “famous” one but interesting with shops on street below.

Montmartre

You have to arrive early to photograph the longest steps “sans personne”. I like the artist who decorated the steps. His creations can be seen all over town and this is the second one I see in Montmartre.

Montmartre

Perfect car to park in front of a Pizzeria.

Montmartre

These pink bicycles decorated Paris for a short while. Here they are at Metro Abbesses.

Montmartre

Last quiet moment before a busy week end. Parisian chairs are one of my favorite subjects.

Montmartre

Vegetarian anyone ? Paris can use added colors on a grey day.

Engaged in Paris

Eric proposed on Pont des Arts. See brand new ring on Sandra’s finger. Here they are inside pyramide du Louvre.

Engaged in Paris

At their hotel. I like all the Parisian details: cobble stones, sand stone building, typical window and geraniums.

Old car on left bank

Walking on left bank, we came upon a group of old cars getting ready for a movie or TV shoot.

Old car in Saint Germain

Old car and new ring. Box of Chocolat Menier on rooftop.

Red door on rue Christine

Could not resist a Paris red door.

Best wishes to Eric and Sandra. I loved their choice of clothes, neutral colors to accompany a typical grey sky.

Nicole and Joe are getting engaged

Nicole and Joe told me they had a cafe Madeleine at home too.

Nicole and Joe are getting engaged

I like this place near Square du Vert Galant where you can walk on the edge of the river. A special place for Nicole and Joe.

Nicole and Joe are getting engaged

This is on the way to Eiffel Tower at Rue de l’Universite.

Nicole and Joe are getting engaged

This is how you say I love you in Korean.

Nancy and John on their wedding day

A quick stop at Brasserie Balzar before opening hours to get that “cafe look”

Nancy and John are very elegant and …so happy !

Nancy and John wedding day

We picked the kiosque in Jardin du Luxembourg for the reading of the vows. It was a sunny day after several rainy ones.

Nancy and John wedding celebration

John’s sister on the right sang a beautiful song in French!  by Gabriel Faure.  A few red rose petals on the ground were our only “decoration”. Not much more is needed when you are in Paris!

Nancy and John wedding celebration

There are all looking at Bettie singing her song. I like the roof of the kiosque with its exotic wood and shape.

John and Nancy wedding celebration

On rue de Tournon, in front of one of Suzanne Ermann’s exquisite wedding dress creations. www.suzanne-ermann.com

Nancy and John at le Procope

Lunch at le Procope was very enjoyable (rue de l’Ancienne Comedie) .

After the ceremony on Pont des Arts

And a little walk to the Louvre after lunch, enjoying a sunny afternoon on Pont des Arts. Nancy was wearing a very pretty dress and you can see some details here. Best to both, they are a regal couple.

Printemps Department Store

Le Printemps a Paris! Printemps means spring but it is also the name of a department store around the corner from me. It is undergoing renovation and is covered in a large canvas that shows… the store  the way it normally looks.  The trompe l’oeil effect comes mainly from the fact that you see reflection of buildings that are in the neighborhood but not right there.

Le Printemps department store is renovated

Image of a window… There is a major renovation project on Avenue Georges V that uses trompe l’oeil effects like this. I posted a photo a while ago.

Printemps/Spring in Paris

This is not a canvas but real buildings on the way from Printemps to Eglise de la Trinite in the 9th arr. Printemps… Spring… This is what spring is looking like in Paris this year. Lots of dark threatening skies.

I love this street by the way as it offers some of the best post Haussmanian architecture in Paris.
