Sunny day in Tuileries gardens

Mom and dad in Paris with 2 kids and fighting jet lag. Big problem was bright sunlight so sunglasses were a must.

At Eiffel Tower

At Eiffel Tower. One stop that cannot be avoided.

Coming up from Louvre (Carousel du Louvre exit).

Children at Palais Royal

Aren’t they adorable strolling at Palais Royal ?

A Stop for French Fries

After a long walk in Paris what is better than some French fried, juice for the kids, a glass of wine for the parents. I thought it was nice that they let us order fries only. A perfect snack!

At cafe, for a well deserved pause

 Taking a well deserved rest.

Father and son at cafe

Tete a tete between father and son.

Place Saint Sulpice in May

And this is what Paris looked like on that first day of May. Love the pink chestnut trees at Place Saint Sulpice.

And by the way, the 2 kids were fairly young. 6 and 3 1/2 if I remember correctly. They were good sports, walked a lot, did not complain, very cooperative and well mannered. Actually I wanted to take them home !

La Seine

I met a wonderful couple from Victoria. Married in Switzerland in the morning. Photos in Paris at night. A rainy night.  I am still smiling because they said that it seldom rains in Victoria (Australia). We got a good sample of French rain on that May day.

Escaliers by Seine

I have to say that I have been quite busy with little time to spend on my blog. Sometimes I need 28 hours in my days.I will try to update my blog on a regular basis this June as a lot happened in the past few months.

Beautiful Parisian door

Vicky had a beautiful dress, hair do and shoes. I am sure those are unfortunately ruined.

And finally, the moment we had been waiting for.Best wishes to Vicky and Leon. As we say in France, Mariage Pluvieux, Mariage Heureux!

Flagrant delice

With beautiful days ahead, I am starting to look at cafes and restaurants with outside seating. I smiled at the name of this restaurant, a twist on flagrant delit.

Winter day on Champs Elysees

Winter in Paris has been cool but we also had some beautiful sunny days. This image at the bottom of Champs Elysees (my favorite part). No shops, you just walk.

Winter afternoon on Champs Elysees

Late afternoon near top of Champs Elysees. Pretty winter sky.

Grand Palais

Inside le Grand Palais, an exhibit of photos/videos by Yann Arthus Bertrand (6 Billions of others). There was a special theme discussed in each “tent/cabana/igloo” (?) Family, love, war, beliefs, fear, happyness etc. It was a good take and always a pleasure to be inside le Grand Palais.

Grand Palais detail

Pretty chandeliers just for this exhibit.

Grand Palais

The small camera I always have with me (here taking photo of glass dome at Grand Palais).

Louvre late afternoon

Louvre and pyramid seen from above.

Louvre at sunset

This image and the previous one taken from Richelieu wing. At le Louvre, I like the paintings and sculptures but I also enjoy looking through the windows.

Hot chocolate at Angelina’s

A different kind of Paris pleasure: breakfast with hot chocolate at Angelina’s !!!

Building on Avenue George V under renovation

This building on Avenue George V was like a magnet to me. Facade was covered with surrealistic canvas for the whole time of construction/remodeling.

Notre Dame de Paris

Magic moment when you are taking an early evening walk and the light is just right.

Happy new year 2009

As the year begins, I want to thank those who walked with me in Paris.  Each visitor makes me see Paris in a different way and I am grateful for that. Here are a few of the 2009 visitors. Selection is made according to what is available to me at the moment…

Wedding in Paris

Ok, it is not quite April in Paris … but it is wonderful as always. It has been such an interesting year for me spending so several months of the winter in India. France and India… so much contrast and so much attraction to me.  A Photographer’s heaven!

Eiffel tower on a winter day

This is probably the reason the Eiffel Tower 3rd level is not always open! This is the day I went to the Jules Verne restaurant anyway, which was wonderful under the new Alain Ducasse management. What a lunch !

Freezing in front of the Pantheon

Here is me (photo taken by Japanese tourist) in front of Pantheon.  You can see some of the beautiful Xmas decorations that are all over town. You can also guess that it was a cool day!

Musee de l’Orangerie

The next day I was at Musee de l’Orangerie which was empty. It was good in that respect, but not a good day to view the nympheas as the sky was completely cloudy and you could not see the changes in the paintings created by the clouds alternating with sun the way Monet had intended it . Still it was a great take. I go to those museums many times a year and the ambiance is always so different.

Pyramide du Louvre

A few days later I was at le Louvre by night, walking back from the left back to my home. I always walk by the Louvre even if it means a detour. It is beautiful 24 hours a day! Here at 10:00 pm or so, all was dark. Only light came from the pyramide. It was so black and white that I decided to make it a black and white image.

Snow

So as the year comes to an end, I want to say “Happy new year” to all my friends (this is in Massachusetts, unfortunately not Paris as I am still waiting to see real snow there ).

Camels at Pushkar fair

And this will be my last picture for this year with a kiss to wish you the best in 2009. From my other favorite place outside of Paris!!!

I will be doing my photo walks in Paris in the spring and summer as always. In cold month you will find me in India.
