About Our Workshops
Our (5, 3 or 1 day) Photography Workshops are designed primarly for visitors new to Paris to discover and capture the unique and magical beauty of the city.
Paris of course means the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Montmartre, Le Louvre, The left bank, Le Marais... and we will include those spots at the best time of day. But...
Paris to me is in the details, atmosphere,
mood, color and form.
A row of glowing cast iron balconies at sunset.
A flower market in the morning with
rainbows of pastel bouquets.
A shaded cobblestoned courtyard and
terracotta pots filled with bright geraniums.
A display of 80 cheeses from cream to gold in color.
Rows of chairs perfectly aligned at a sidewalk cafe at dawn.
A woman teetering on impossible high heels, crossing the street with her petit chien under her arm.
Inspiration everywhere is this city’s gift.
During your visit and personal journey through Paris streets, you will be encouraged to produce your own strong series of creative images through guided observations and personal coaching of a long-time Paris resident and professional photographer.
Whether novice or seasoned photographer, you will develop new skills, a different perception and way to look at details, and go home with a collection of images that you will be proud to share, display or sell.
Practical Matters:
- Custom daily itineraries are built around your interests, season, weather and available light at the time. There will be a brake around 1:00 for lunch, shopping or a visit to a museum but the workshop will occupy most of your day.
- Photographers of all levels are welcome. An excellent knowledge of your equipment is a must. A full check-up of your equipment before departure is strongly recommended.
- Any type of camera (digital or film) with manual controls is acceptable. There will be a couple of computers available to view your images and there are a few good labs within walking distance that will burn cds, process film, contact sheet or print overnight.
- Classes are limited to six participants.
- Daily meetings are held in the Madeleine area of the 8th arrondissement and we recommend that you book a hotel in in this very historic, photogenic and centrally located neighborhood. A list of hotels can be found on this website under Resource Links.
- Complimentary “French” breakfast will be provided as we finalize our day’s plan.
- Wine and cheese will be available as we wrap up each day with discussions and study of Parisian photographs.
- Participants have to be good walkers as we will explore Paris by foot and or metro (steps!)
- Tuition Fees
Prices range from 800.00 Euros for a 5 day workshop to 250.00 Euros for a 1 day workshop. Tuition fees are paid at booking time by paypal or certified check.
In case of emergency, fees will be reimbursed in full.
For cancellation within 24 hours of workshop, a 100.00 Euro flat rate will be withheld.
Price includes all classes, daily continental breakfast in a traditional Parisian apartment and afternoon wine and cheese sampling.
- All hotels, meals other than breakfast, transportation and entrance tickets to museums or exhibits are additional.
- Shorter workshops, single full days of photography and private sessions can be considered upon request.
- Participants are required to have a travel insurance of their choice as A Photographer in Paris cannot be held responsible for delays, injuries or any mishaps that might occur during your stay in Paris.
As your mind regards the image framed
in the viewfinder,
as you gently finger the shutter release,
this moment is your moment,
your opportunity to share your
experience of the world.
